Conna House Cultural Programme
As well as a four hour English lesson every day (Monday - Friday) each course includes a comprehensive introduction to the Irish culture incorporating historical, cultural daytrips, outdoor activities and a substantial involvement with the wider Irish community, situations which, we believe, can greatly enhance a student’s confidence in their ability to successfully communicate in the English language.
Afternoon excursions to local areas such as the charming, marine towns of Youghal, Cobh and Kinsale, are held twice a week as well as visits to a number of fascinating art galleries and museums including The Crawford Art Gallery in Cork city and The Hunt Museum and Gallery in Limerick.
Regional outings are held once a week, usually on either Saturday or Sunday, to some of the most historically significant locations such as our vibrant, capital city of Dublin, the picturesque town of Killarney with it’s beautiful surrounding lakes, historic Kilkenny City, the 13th century Gothic cathedral on 'The Rock Of Cashel' and a breath-taking tour of the Ring of Kerry, an absolute must see!!
Students also get to experience Ireland’s unique evening entertainment, a central element of this entertainment being Ireland’s world-renowned pub culture. While sampling a creamy pint of Guiness students can also enjoy listening to some traditional Irish music, often accompanied by a vibrant display of Irish dancing.
Evening entertainment also includes outings to The Cork Opera House and The Everyman Palace, theatres which offer a variety of shows and plays. Students can test their English while enjoying a movie at the cinema or while chatting with teachers and fellow students over a delicious meal in one of the many local, charming restaurants. Learning English at "Conna House" is intensive but more importantly it is a very interesting and enjoyable experience.
All entrance tickets and transport charges for the outings are included in the overall price for accommodation and board.
