In addition to the placement test on the first morning of the Business/Professional English course, each student partakes in an initial interview with a course tutor in which the student’s requirements and objectives for the course can be discussed. As our ambition is to individualise the learning experience at Conna House, each student is also asked to complete a needs analysis questionnaire upon arrival. This student-centred approach to teaching enables us to efficiently provide for the needs of our clients, assisting them in every way possible to successfully accomplish their goals.
This course is designed for students with an interest in the field of business, who wish to develop their ability to converse, negotiate and successfully do business within an English speaking environment. The course encompasses all aspects of the English language (reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar and pronunciation) but in a business context. As with our general English course, the fundamental objective of this course is to enhance the communication skills of our students, providing them with the confidence to perform successfully in today’s business world. To achieve this goal our experienced teachers complement the core text book provided, with an extensive variety of supplementary materials, relevant case studies, topical discussions and role-play of practical situations such as telephoning, negotiating, chairing meetings and making presentations.
This course also incorporates a cultural programme, providing students with an insight into the Irish people and their unique way of life. A broader European aspect is also included, in particular for business professionals, who will continue to work in Europe.
